We are finishing up our projects this week for Night of the Notables. This is a project that the students are completing in class. Our field trip to the retirement home is Tuesday, December 9th. NOTN is Thursday at 6:30pm. The event is school-wide the evening's events typically take place in the child's classroom or in the common areas. Ours will be in our classroom. When you first come in, I will have an activity for the parents to complete. The students know that they are not allowed to assist. =) Then, we will be doing individual introductions to the entire group around 6:40pm and the event will begin. The purpose of the event is for the adults to mingle around the room and interact with the notables, in this case your child and their classmates. As parents you can ask questions about the likes and dislikes of the child, information about their family or family tree, similarities and differences to ____, their project they created, etc. Please make sure you are walking around and interacting with the students. If you have a sibling you'd like to see in another classroom or if you'd like to visit other classrooms, please feel free to come and go as well. If you are late to the event you may miss the formal introductions or the activity at the very beginning. Nothing else about our classroom's events are time sensitive.
Holidays Around the World
We have begun our studies of holidays, customs, cultures, and beliefs around the world. We are learning about several different winter holidays and celebrations and the religions/reasons behind them.
