First and foremost, let me remind you that receiving a "2" in any area is okay and means your child is doing well in that area. It means that they are developing in their learning of those skills and standards and making progress toward mastery (they just aren't there yet and that is OK!). Receiving a "3" indicates mastery of a skill and indicates your child is doing well. Receiving a "4" in any area is truly rare and an exception rather than an expectation. On progress reports, please keep in mind that comments are only made to give further information if your child received a "1" or "4" in any subject area.
I thought it would be helpful and informative to give a brief explanation of what was covered in the various categories for you to be better informed of your child's abilities and overall state of mastery. Please do not use this list to create homework assignments for your child or to worry about covering any material they have not mastered yet. We still have several weeks left in the quarter and will continue to work on skills and review. Please also keep in mind that it is not unusual for a skill to take the entire school year before mastery is achieved. Everyone learns and grows at their own pace, so keep calm and enjoy the journey. =)

In regards to behavior and participation, please see the rubric below. It also outlines the academic rubric as well. Regarding homework, there is no homework in science. The social studies homework grade is based on the Tom the Turkey rubric/project. Math homework is optional so your child's grade either reflects whether they turned it in or not. Language arts homework grades are based on nightly reading logs.
