Weekly News

I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend.  The weather was gorgeous outside but I can't believe that October is here! I'd like to make a comment about this year's annual giving campaign before I go over this week's happenings.  I just wanted to remind everyone how important it is to pledge.  If you have already turned in a pledge, I want to personally thank you.  If you have not turned in your pledge form, please send it in as soon as possible or pledge online on the donation pages.  Without your help, or school will lose the things that make us special and unique.  Please give (or pledge, as the money isn't due until the end of the year) what you can. EVERY DONATION, NO MATTER HOW BIG OR SMALL HELPS!!!  In fact, the more we show the commuity that we support ourselves by pledging in our own school, the more likely we are to begin receiving outside funding and support now and in the future.

Each year I have been at the school, our class has earned 100% participation to earn a reward and I admit that I'm slightly competitive. :) I just know how great our school is.  The teachers, our new state of the art building, surge in technology, amazing experiences, etc. are unbeatable and superior to alternative options in Charlotte; especially when considering the instability of CMS and their programs or other charter schools that are unstable.  Let's reach 100% participation together, regardless of the monetary amount, and set an example for others.  I LOVE the Scholars Academy and believe we can take it to the next level together.  Thanks for your support. =)

Now on to some announcements for this week...

  • A huge thank you to the parents who have purchased and sent in cases and/or screen protectors for the iPads.  We can't wait to use them in our classroom!
  • We will be visiting the fire station this Friday.  If you are able to send in a baked goody or treat for the firefighters, please email me and let me know.  We will be writing them cards and letters as a class and I thought a treat/snack would also be sweet to give them as a token of appreciation.
  • Don't forget that if your child has changes in their dismissal procedures, we need a note or email.  It is for your child's safety to ensure that they are travelling with people who are safe and they are where they are supposed to be.
  • PTO fall festival is this Friday after school.  You must be present with your child in order to attend.  If your child has permission to attend with someone else, please notify Mrs. Kang and I via note or email.  Thanks!
  • This week we will be studying fire safety and prevention.  Please study the following skills with your child, as they are important for general safety in public as well as fire safety:
    • address
    • phone number
    • safe meeting place outside of your home in case of a fire
  • Monday (tomorrow) is school Spirit Day!  Please send your child to school wearing their Scholars Academy attire or the colors black and gold/yellow to show your support.  The PTO has also set up a fun night for families through Adventure Landing.  Please see the poster below.

Have a great week!  Let me know if you need anything!
