OH MY!!! Apple Pie!

WOW!  What fun we had last week making apple pies!  The students each made individual apple pies after we read the book How to Make Apple Pie and See the World.  Mrs. Kang and I supervised to make sure that no one was eating raw ingredients or contaminating the group ingredients but we did not do any of the measuring, mixing, or decision-making.

The students LOVED the pies, so here is the recipe.

Filling
1 apple peeled, cored, and sliced (we used half so the other half could be our applesauce)
1/4 tsp. cinnamon
2 TBSP sugar

Crust
4 tsp. butter (melted)
2 TBSP Sugar
2 tsp Water
1/4 cup AND 2 TBSP flour
pinch of salt

Directions
Make the filling and sprinkle with sugar.  Let it sit while you make the crust so goo starts to form.  Make the crust.  Press half into a muffin tin.  Fill with desired amount of apples.  Top with remaining crust.  Bake at 350 until top is bubbly and brown.

Look how yummy!!!
