More Information About Class Happenings!

Composting
We have a vermicompost in our class!!! YAHOO!!!  I am so excited to use our compost throughout the school year to teach the students more about how to conserve, reuse, and help the environment.  It was given to our class by a parent in Mrs. Zagorski's classroom I was working with to write a grant over the summer.  So... what is a vermicompost?  It is a type of composting that can be done inside!  It is completely odorless and free from bugs.  It uses worms to decompose the food.  Essentially, the worms eat the food and poop out nutrient rich soil (EW! But so cool!!!).  We started talking about the vermicompost today and we went through our class' lunch scraps to determine what could and could not be fed to the worms.  I emphasized that scraps are VERY different than saving your lunch for the worms!!!  It's a great way to learn through everyday activities at school!  You might even want to start one at home!!!  =)

Schedule
I forgot to upload the new schedule over the weekend.  It is up now!  =)

Bring Your Own Device: WEDNESDAY
I would LOVE for our students to be able to bring their devices to school to blog with once a week (or so).  As we continue with the school year, I'd love to branch out and do other activities as well.  If you do not have a tablet or device that your child can use, that is OK, your child will still be able to participate and use a Chromebook.  If you do have a tablet or device, it would make the blogging process easier for the students.  They wouldn't have to type in a username and password to log-on to the computer, type in the blog address, and finally log-in.  It would just be more streamlined and user-friendly.  I'd love for the first day to be this Wednesday.  All you have to do is fill-out the form using this link and send it to school in your child's daily folder or email it directly to me once it is filled out.  I will always email our class before I'd like devices to come to school, so please don't send them daily.  Please let me know if you have any questions.
