Last Week...
First - thank you all for a WONDERFUL teacher appreciation week!!! Ms. Brett, Mrs. Dey and I felt truly appreciated and loved ALL week long. Thank you so much for the sweet cards, yummy treats and the wonderful volunteers who allowed us to go and enjoy a delicious lunch!!! We were definitely spoiled. THANK YOU!!!!
Now....for what we learned last week. LOTS!
Language Arts:
The students were introduced to poetry and and wrote a poem of their own. Their favorite part was watching Shel Silverstein's poem about a special crocodile and dentist. We worked on 'S' blends (sc, sk, sm, sn, sp and st.) Contractions were also introduced and reviewed throughout the week. The last thing that was introduced and reviewed was the word families 'eep' and 'ing'.
Math:
We are continuing to work on graphing and tallies. The concept of 10 more and 10 less was also introduced (on a number chart and mentally.)Social Studies:
We have started talking about President's Day and the symbols that correlate with President's Day. This will continue for the rest of the month.Other Events....
We met with our 3rd grade buddies on Wednesday. They helped us decorate our 'Hearty Party' boxes. The 'Hearty Party' was a huge success! Thank you to all the donations and parents who sent in items - they were yummy.Imaginon:
We did go to the library on Friday, some students still have outstanding fines. The fines can be paid at any Mecklenburg Public library or online. If the fine is over $5.00, students will not be able to check out any books until the fines are paid - library rule.Next Week:
