Last Week:

What can I say about last week...we tried out best, but it was hard to get much in.  This week will HOPEFULLY be a fresh start!!!!

Dentist Visit

Dr. Jason Sperati was supposed to be here last week on Tuesday.  I do not know if this will be rescheduled - TBD.

This week!

Snow!

They are calling for snow again on Tuesday and Wednesday.  PLEASE be sure to check the MRSA website and all news stations for the most up to date information about closings and delays.  MRSA does have a texting system to alert parents and students about delays and closings, check the website to learn more about that.

Dr Seuss Week!

Dr. Seuss week is next week.  More information is below.

My Community Sheet:

Another 'My Community" worksheet is coming home tomorrow.  Please only do PAGE 31 and return by Friday.

*~Progress Report and Grading Questions~*
Progress reports will go home on Friday, please read below along with the grading information posted on the website previously posted before addressing any concerns.  If there is still a question or concern after reading through this information, we are more than happy to discuss it with you.

Remember the grading scale:

Meeting expectations means your child is doing a good job in my class and it is
nothing to be ashamed of!  It is extremely rare for a student to earn "exceeds expectations," especially on progress reports when there is so much of the quarter left to go.  A student only earns "exceeds expectations" when they consistently exceed expectations across the board in that subject area, and that is really difficult to do!

I try to give you a very realistic picture of your child's progress when grading for progress reports.  I want you to be forewarned if there is an issue that needs correcting, while there is still time to fix the problem.  If I were more lenient for progress reports, you might not realize that your child is "on the bubble" between two scores, and I would really rather you find out
now than at the end of the quarter.

Imaginon Trip:

We will go to Imaginon again this week on Thursday.  Many of the students have fines that are over $5.00.  The fines can be paid online or paid at the library.  The students will NOT be allowed to check out books if the fines are OVER $5.00 (library rule.)  If you would like us to pay the fine, please send the money in on Thursday marked for Imaginon.  Just remember that the fines do increase every day by $.25

Seuss Week!

Dr. Seuss week is finally here!!!  We have MANY fun activities planned and it is going to be an AWESOME WEEK!  I will post a sign-up genius for our brunch on Friday, March 6th.  (A second sign-up genius will be available if you are interested in reading a story at any mystery reader event that week if you are available.)

As part of the fun, we will have a dress-up day EVERY day of the week, related to specific Dr. Seuss book and correlating to the many activities we have planned.  Below are the special days, in case you need to start planning ahead.  Please let your child be in charge of planning their costume and outfits as well, as it makes it more exciting and fun that way.

Mixed-Up Monday: Wear mixed-up or mismatched clothing.  Wear clothes that do not match, are inside out and backwards, two different shoes, etc.

Terrific Tuesday: Wear funky and cool socks and shoes.

Wonderful Wednesday: Wear a fun or funky hat to school in honor of Dr. Seuss' birthday and meeting the Cat in the Hat.  Baseball hats, princess crowns, cowboy hats, etc are all welcome!  The more unique, the better!

Totally Cool Thursday: Wear your hair in a totally different way!  How fun, different or crazy can it get?!

Fun Friday: Dress as ANY character from Dr. Seuss.  We will have read over 20 Dr. Seuss books by Friday.  Be as simple or as elaborate as you want!  There are many ideas on the internet.  PLEASE let your child make their costume from a paper bag, by coloring a white shirt, etc.  BE CREATIVE and THINK OUTSIDE THE BOX!!!!  This is supposed to be fun!!!  Email me if you need suggestions or clarification.
