This Week...

I hope everyone enjoyed their weekend and stayed warm throughout the cold weather front!  Where did fall go?!?!

Last week we had a wonderful time celebrating Dia de lost Muertos and Halloween.  Our field trip to the retirement home really brightened the day of the elderly people and I know the students enjoyed it as well.  Thank you to everyone who sent in supplies for the part or came in and helped volunteer at stations and with the party.  A fun time was had by all and it was very low-key and mellow.

This Thursday afternoon we will be having a ice cream party sponsored by the PTO in celebration of how well our class did selling Go Play Save books.  Way to go!!!  If your child has any allergies or medical concerns, please send in a separate snack or advise me on what he/she is able to eat.

Yearbook order forms went home on Thursday.  If you'd like a yearbook you must pre-order it by December 11th.  The cost is $15.00 and can be paid via cash or check (made out to MRSA).

PE/Health forms will go home today.  Please read through everything and only fill-out and return the form to Mr. Chambers if you do not approve of your child participating in the health program.

Report cards will go home on Friday.  I cannot stress to you enough how much grades SHOULD NOT be the main focus.  The goal is growth over time and we all start at different places to grow.  Please focus on the skills that your child has mastered and the skills that we are going to continue to work on.  Please also praise your child for the growth he/she has made.  We do not focus on grades AT ALL in our classroom.  We recognize that the students are all learning and growing at their own pace, which may or may not allow them to "fit the mold" of the grading policy, expectations, and curriculum standards.  Please use the report card as a piece of data to help your child while referring to the conference sheet of strengths, weaknesses, and overall goals at this point in the school year for your child.  If your child's progress/grades are a concern to Mrs. Kang and myself, we will let you know by requesting an additional conference or have already alerted you in a previous conference of our concerns.
