A few important messages about this week:
*Please make sure you are dropping your child off in the commons area and not walking him/her to the classroom. This helps build and foster independence.
*Don't forget that Teacher Talk/Curriculum Night has been moved to Wednesday, September 17th. I will review classroom policies, procedures, grading and reporting, and there will be a brief Q & A. It is a night FULL of important information, so I hope to see everyone there! Please try to find childcare but know that your child may come and read or draw if absolutely necessary.
*This week we will really start getting into curriculum, stations, rotations, self-motivated learning, etc. Reading Folders with individualized books will also go home this week. More information to come on that...
*Our first field trip is this week to the airport overlook (and potentially to Imaginon... still working on that schedule). Please keep in mind the following regarding Tuesday's trip:
- On Tuesday's trip to the airport, we will be eating lunch and discussing the various planes, etc. in accordance with our studies of transportation. We do not pack disposable lunches because it does not make sense to teach reusing and recycling throughout the school year only to abandon it on the many many trips we go on due to convenience. Therefore, I will send home a reusable Ziploc container with your child on Monday, the day before the trip. It will have your child's name on it in masking tape. Please pack your child's entire lunch in the container. Water bottles and snacks may remain separate. We will transport the lunches in a cooler to and from the trip. At the end of the day, Mrs. Kang and I will wash the containers in the school's dishwasher to be ready for the next field trip that includes lunch. Reusable containers will only go home the day before a trip where lunch is included in the trip.
- If you have not sent in your money for this Tuesday's trip, please send it in by Tuesday morning. It works best for Mrs. Kang and myself if families pay in advance by month or for the entire year, but we understand that everyone's needs are different. If you have signed up to be a chaperone of the trip, I have updated the tab above labeled "Field Trips" to include all chaperone requests I have received.
- Only 2 chaperones are able to fit on our school bus. The first two names on the form were the first two requests I received. If you are not able to ride the bus and no longer wish to be a chaperone, please let me know via note or email.
- We will be leaving around 11:25am for Tuesday's trip to the airport. Please make sure you arrive at school with enough time to sign-in at the front desk. You must get a visitor's badge in order to chaperone.
- We will meet you in the commons area/lunch area for the field trip when we are all ready to go. If you are driving separately, you are able to follow the bus and may be able to carpool with other parents from our class or Mrs. Zagorski's class if desired.
- Please review/remember the chaperone guidelines from the form before Tuesday's trip. =)
*Don't forget that HomeLinks Math pages are optional but reading is not. Your child should be reading for at least 15 minutes every day.
*A Home Language survey went home in your child's folder on Friday. If it does not apply to you or you do not wish to fill it out, do not worry. It is optional as well. Completed language surveys can be returned in your child's daily folder.
*Please continue to sell your Citipass books. Feel free to turn in any money, folders, etc. as needed via your child's backpack or folder.
*Please make a pledge to our school's annual campaign. With the classroom donor pages up and running you are able to donate online as well. Feel free to send out the donation link to extended family members, friends, etc. Every dollar counts!!! =)
