Weekly Information

We will be going on a field trip to McDowell Nature Preserve on Wednesday (tomorrow).  Please make sure your child has their lunch packed in the blue container and also has a water bottle.  We will be spending a lot of time outside, so please make sure your child is dressed appropriately as well (hat, tennis shoes, etc.)

We will be going to Imaginon on Thursday.  Please make sure you have paid any outstanding fines and returned your child's books/sent to school by that day so new books can be checked out.

We are working on our animal projects, continuing Junior Great Books, reviewing and deepening knowledge in math, and furthering our writing skills with longer, more difficult assignments.  We are still focusing on the basics in some areas (capitalization, spacing, counting coins, adding and subtracting mentally and quickly, etc.).  Please make sure that these are the skills your child is focusing on at home.  Playing games at home and talking in the car are great ways to make these basic skills more abstract and difficult (which makes a much bigger impact than moving on to skills like multiplication, etc).

Please let me know if you have any questions this week.  I do not have a lot to say... =)

Below are some new optional activities (if you'd like to do them).

Alphabet Chart for spelling words.... Add or subtract!  Write them down or try to do it in your head!  Think of short words you can do without help.  Is the sum/difference even or odd?

We have been doing graphing like this in class (1 object stands for more than 1 thing on the graph).  Can you solve the graph questions?  Can you create your own graph about objects in your house?
