Information...

I hope everyone had a great weekend.  Thank you for the overwhelming support of supplies and help last week for the party and stations.  I know that the students had a wonderful time celebrating Halloween and Dia de los Muertos.

This week we have picture day on Wednesday.  We also have a visit from the ballet and Imaginon library trip on that day.  Due to pictures and the visit from the ballet, we will attend the library 12:30-1:30pm on Wednesday.  We will travel via bus.  Friday there is an Art field trip to the Mint Museum in the afternoon.

Tomorrow, the remainder of your child's work from 1st quarter will be sent home.  You will also receive any unfinished work your child did not complete from 1st quarter.  This work cannot be turned in for a grade, as the quarter has ended and students were given ample time above and beyond our daily routine to complete it last week and throughout the quarter.

With that being said... report cards will go home on Friday.  I cannot stress to you enough how much grades SHOULD NOT be the main focus.  The goal is growth over time and we all start at different places to grow.  Please focus on the skills that your child has mastered and the skills that we are going to continue to work on.  Please also praise your child for the growth he/she has made.  We do not focus on grades AT ALL in our classroom.  We recognize that the students are all learning and growing at their own pace, which may or may not allow them to "fit the mold" of the grading policy, expectations, and curriculum standards.

As of right now, there are NO MORE optional homework sheets.  Despite Mrs. Kang and I continually reminding families that the sheets were not mandatory and should be used in moderation, we received several packets of work on a weekly basis.  I may occasionally send home or "release" optional work online throughout the quarter, but for now I would like the focus to be on having fun and reading books.
