News and Info

This week….. WOW.
BUSY BUSY BUSY!

We are going to have a great time this week!

To hit the highlights...
  • Tomorrow, Wednesday, is the pumpkin patch trip.  Please dress your child accordingly.  The only requirement is that your child needs to wear tennis shoes (sneakers) on the trip.  The times are approximate, but we are leaving at 8:45 and returning around 2:30.  A lunch container is going home today for tomorrow's trip.  Please also send a water bottle.
  • Thursday is our class party.  It will begin at lunch time (11:45ish) and last until 2:30.  Our trip to the retirement center is full as far as chaperones go.  Our party will have stations and I ask that you assist at the stations rather than follow your child to the various activities or converse among yourselves.  With so many volunteers, we have the ability for you to rotate with other parents and spend some time at stations and some time with your child.
  • Please see last week's post for additional information about the party, costumes, etc.
  • We had a homework discussion last week in our class and I told the students that I would be sharing our revelations and information with you.  We are seeing many students struggle with a lack of confidence and overwhelming uncertainty in our class along with the continual need for reassurance from each other and their teachers.  We talked about how mom and dad sitting directly next to you allows for comfort and assistance immediately when needed.  It is OK that you help your child on assignments or facilitate their learning at home.  However, I ask that you walk away while your child is working to foster their independence of the task, self-motivation and self-reassurance strategies.  You not being directly next to them throughout the task or assignment will also allow them to work through any struggles and think through possible problem solving strategies before they receive help (as they do in class with 18 kids and 2 teachers).
