Welcome back! 

I hope everyone had a wonderful Spring Break!  It is a milestone in the school year and a sign that the weather is getting warmer.  Please read through the reminders below and let me know if you have any questions. 

Grandparent's Day

Grandparent's Day is Friday.  Please let me know if your child will have grandparents attending so I can be prepared with chairs, etc.  Also, please let me know if your child will be leaving early for the day (at lunch) with their grandparent(s) to avoid any confusion the day of. 

School Library & Imaginon

We did not visit the school library before break because there was a last-minute mix-up on coverage.  We will not have the school library this week due to the book fair.  We will be attending Imaginon next week, 3 weeks exactly from the last trip.  Books need to be returned with your child next Tuesday or to any public library before then to avoid fines.   

Book Fair

The Scholars Academy Spring Book Fair will be held by Cardinal Lane Books during the week of April 8th. Preview Day for ALL is Tuesday, Apr. 9 and ppurchases can be done April 10, 11 & 12.  We will go to the fair with ton Tuesday to create a wish list and your child may purchase books on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.  Accepted Payments:   Cash, Check (made out to Scholars Academy), and Visa & Mastercard. 

Night of the Arts - May 14th  The note below was sent out during Spring Break from Coach Z about Night of the Arts.  Please read through it and let me or her know if you have any questions.

Night of the Arts is rapidly approaching and I will be in charge of Kindergarten's performance for this year.  I so enjoy working with them and have a blast watching them on stage!  They steal the show every year.  For this year's performance, the students will be dancing to "Gangnam Style."  The song chosen is from the Kidz Bop cd and is sung by children and is a very clean version of the song.  As you probably know, this is a very popular song right now.  The movement done to the song is very much like a gallop.  So thinking creatively, the dance is going to focus on the locomotor skill of galloping and the children are going to pretend to be cowboys/girls.  I do not typically request any specific outfit or have any requirements for the children's performance.  However, this year, I would like for the kids to wear cowboy/girl hats to give that effect of riding a horse through the song.  If you could please make sure that your child has a cowboy/girl hat for the performance on Tuesday, May 14th.  Just a little side note...you may want to make sure there is some sort of string to help hold the hat on as they gallop it may fall off.  If you have any questions, please contact me at nzagorski@scholarsacademy.org.  I look forward to putting on a wonderful performance! Parent Communication Note from Dr. Postma There have been some issues regarding parent communication.  Please read Dr. Postma's reminder below and follow proper channels.  Also, please note that Mrs. Cuneo is in charge of K-4 issues rather than Dr. Postma if you'd like to address administration with a concern after we have a conference.  1. All classroom issues must be brought to the classroom teacher/grade level team first. 2. Parents must make an appointment with the teacher/team to discuss. Parents also must make an appointment with the teacher if they wish to observe a classroom. 3.  If parents believe their issue has not been resolved, they may contact either Jessica or myself to express that concern. Depending on the nature of the concern, the teacher should be present at that meeting. 4.  Parents should not be contacting Board members about school issues unless they have taken all the above steps and still feel that resolution has occurred. 5.  All school decisions will follow both the charter and established school policies without exception. 6. Parents have the right to file a grievance with the Board based on the conditions set forth by the charter/Board policies.
