News and Announcements

I hope everyone had a wonderful Saint Patrick's Day.  We've had an adventure in our classroom trying to catch the leprechaun that visited over the weekend and destroyed our room!  Then he left a trail of green objects and wrote us messages.  We tried to catch him with homemade traps, but he seemed to evade us again.  Maybe next year's class will have better luck.   =)

CALENDAR ROUTINE!!!
The most important announcement is that the time has come for your child to teach calendar for you as well as our class!  Every morning from 8:40-9:00(ish), we review the calendar as a class. We conduct our calendar routine on the Smartboard and the students are in charge of teaching calendar to the class. It has been AMAZING to watch each child present/teach the other students since they took over the responsibility.  It started page by page in Novemeber and evolved into the entire routine in January.  Everyone has had a turn to practice teaching, so now they are ready to teach for you too!  I randomly drew names in front of the class yesterday for the dates of each child's teaching and assigned them to days throughout the remainder of the school year. The date listed below is the date your child will be teaching calendar. If you would like to watch your child teach the rest of the class, please feel free to join us from 8:40-9:00ish. If you really want to come and watch your child but the date below will not fit into your schedule, please e-mail me as soon as possible and let me know, or try to switch with another child. I will do my best to assign your child a new date, but due to our schedule we are unable to do Mondays or Tuesdays and have skipped a few other days due to field trips and school events.  Cameras, video recorders, and other family members are also welcome!

Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns and please confirm if you will be attending so we can have adult chairs ready as well.

Other important information and reminders.... 

• Also, a lot of work went home earlier this week.  If your child struggled with a skill, please review it with him/her at home. 
• If you have received a reminder about field trip money in your child's folder, please remember that it is due when we return from Spring Break, April 8th. 
• We are attending Imaginon library next Tuesday, before going on Spring Break the following week.  The books will be due exactly 3 weeks later, on our next library trip (4/16/13).  Please make sure you return your child's books on your own or that they are sent to school for the following trip or they will be late.  We do not have the extra 1 week "buffer" due to the break. 
• After Spring Break we will also beginning a new daily rotation for taking Mick home and doing another round of Show and Tell called "Write and Read."  More information will go home next week about it. 
• Every Thursday we attend the MRSA Library.  Please make sure your child is returning his/her books so new books can be taken home and enjoyed.
• Thanks for all of the donations of food items for activities last week.
