News & Updates

Some classroom news and updates for you.... 

• Remember, your child's 100th day of school projects are due Monday, February 11th.  Please make sure your child is completing all of the counting, sorting, collecting, organizing, etc. of the projects to deepen his/her number sense and counting abilities. 
• Your child needs a shoe box (or some other box for a valentine box) by Monday, February 11th.  If you have any stickers, lace, wrapping paper, etc. that we could use to decorate the boxes and you'd like to send for the class, please send them by Monday as well.   
• Our Valentine's Party will be a small class get together.  It is the one party each year that we celebrate as a classroom family without outside parents, siblings, etc.  This is because there really is not a lot of assistance needed.  We will be passing out valentines, talking about our trip to the Cypress Retirement Home, and enjoying each other's company with healthy snacks. 
• Our Valentines party is a "Hearty Party" which means we will only be eating healthy snacks.  Please sign-up on MRSAEvents to contribute an item to the party.  
• Please encourage your child to write his/her classmates' names on the valentines he/she brings to school.  Valentines are not mandatory-- they are optional.  However, a valentine must be brought for each classmate if your child decides to participate in the exchange. 
• Next week is Teacher Appreciation week.  On Wednesday, Miss Crowther and I will be treated to lunch off-campus with the rest of the staff.  If you are able to come to school and watch the class from 12:45-3:00, please sign-up here:    http://www.signupgenius.com/go/30E0B48A5AC2DA31-teacher. You cannot bring younger siblings.  I will have plans/activities for the children to do during this time. 
• Next week we will be going to the Retirement Center on a field trip.  Please send in our $1.00 fee for the bus if you have not already done so.  The field trip for the 3 Little Pigs money is also due ($8.00).  Please send it in.  I will send e-mail reminders for both of these things. 
• Class picture day was Tuesday.  If you did not send in your order form and money but want a picture, you can send it to school by tomorrow (Fri. Feb. 8th).  After that you will need to mail it directly to the company. 
• Under our new safety regulations and practice procedures, we have found that our "hiding place" for a lockdown is VERY dark.  If anyone has an extra flashlight they'd like to donate to the class so we are not in complete darkness, please let me know/send it in.
