WELCOME!

Good afternoon Kindergarten Parents!
That special day is finally here!!!  It is the night before Kindergarten.  =)  I wanted to touch on several things before our week begins.  As always, please let me know if you have any questions or need anything from me.  This blog post is very long with LOTS of information for the beginning of the school year.  I promise they will get shorter as the year progresses and everyone is in the swing of things.

*The school doors will open at 8:00 tomorrow morning.  Your child will be considered tardy if he or she arrives after 8:15 and will need to be signed in at the front desk.  Mr. Yodice will have announcements in the gym every Monday and Friday at 8:15, so it is optimal for your child to be at school in time to hear those announcements.

*Please feel free to walk your child into the classroom tomorrow, but it is not mandatory.  You can be as involved as you'd like as far as pictures, observations, etc. are concerned tomorrow and through next week during drop-off time as you relish in your child's first few days of school.  This is such an exciting time.  Mrs. Kang and I will be starting right away in the morning with introducing your child to the procedures of the classroom and morning routine.  If your child is emotional about leaving you, we will intervene and the transition will be easier if you use that time to leave.  The longer you linger when a child is emotional, the harder it is for everyone.  Please be assured that your child is in safe hands and will be having a ball in no time.

*Please be aware that at 8:15, we will be locking our classroom and going to announcements, so getting to school as close to 8:00 as possible will allow you more time for pictures, etc.

*There will be a gathering in the PTO room immediately following dismissal with bagels, donuts, etc.  This is an awesome casual event for you to stop by and meet everyone, learn more information about any questions you may have, etc.  It is also a great time to decompress if you are feeling emotional about your little one starting Kindergarten already! =)

*I know I am a broken record... but tomorrow is the only day that our entire class will come to school this week.  After tomorrow we will follow the staggered entry list.  No school Monday, September 1st due to Labor Day.  You can send any missing supplies in to school throughout the remainder of this week and next.  Please let me know if you need assistance with anything.

*Please make sure your child has a lunch, water bottle, and 2 healthy snacks at school tomorrow.  On your child's staggered entry day he/she will only need 1 snack and a water bottle.  The snacks do not have to be packed in separate containers, etc.  They can be in your child's lunch box or in a special place in their backpack.  The most important part is that your child knows where his/her snacks are.

*Several parents have asked about devices already.  It is not mandatory that your child have a specific device of any kind.  If you have a device at home, there will be times we ask that your child bring it to school.  However, devices have to be registered through the school, etc.  We will not be using devices until classroom procedures and routines are in place, so it will be several weeks.  I will email you with the appropriate forms needed before devices will be brought to our classroom.

*THANK YOU to everyone who has already taken a wish list item to donate to our class.  Your thoughtfulness and generosity are appreciated SO MUCH.  If you were unable to find the wish list in the busy schedule of Open House, we have moved it to the front window outside our classroom.  Please feel free to take an item this week to help out our class.  There are items of various price levels, etc.  Sample items are gift cards, cold temperature glue guns, laminating pouches, and other supplies we will use throughout the year.  New or used items are welcome and appreciated.

*Please make sure you are subscribed to our blog, www.mrsdey.blogspot.com.  I will begin only making posts to the blog in lieu of sending emails at the end of the week and if you have not subscribed you will be uninformed as to classroom happenings and events.

*More paperwork, folders, etc. from the school will begin coming home over the next few days/weeks.  Please make sure you send in your child's health forms, copy of social security card, and copy of birth certificate as soon as possible.  Please make sure you have read through the school communications email and have signed up for notifications through "callemall" as well as a MRSA Library card.  Let me know if you need assistance with any of this.

It was wonderful meeting you and your child at open house and I look forward to a wonderful year together.  Let me know if you need anything.
