100th Day of School

It's finally here!!!  The 100th day of school will be this Thursday, January 31st!  We are set and ready for a fun day of celebrating!

We will be doing rotations and celebrations inside our classroom for the celebration and need your help with some materials and supplies.  We will not need any parent volunteers, just supply donations.  Please let me know via your child's folder or MRSAEvents if you are able to send in the following:
  • 40 fruity life savers (I think that's a couple rolls)
  • 1 box Mike & Ikes candy
  • A couple boxes of cereal with a hole (Fruit Loops, Cheerios of any flavor, etc.)
  • ANY treats/snacks to make a trail mix (can be opened or not)
    • marshmallows, cereal, popcorn, pretzels, goldfish, raisins, M&Ms, etc. are good suggestions.  Remember: NO NUTS
  • 20 Tootsie Roll Pops
  • 1 big tub Crisco solid shortening (for our penguin activity)
Miss Crowther and I will be providing the materials for the crafts, celebration hats, materials to make and frost cupcakes, etc.

Please sign-up or send in your items by Wednesday so I have time to go to the store and purchase the remaining ingredients.  THANKS FOR ALL OF YOUR SUPPORT!

Please see below for the 100th day of school project description...

100th Day of School Project

The 100th day of school is a fun day full of math and literacy activities related to the number 100.  The students will also learn how to count to 100 in various ways.  After the 100th day, I am going to assign a project related to the 100th day of school.  Details of the project are below, but PLEASE DO NOT START UNTIL AFTER THE 100th DAY!!!  I WILL EXPLAIN THE PROJECT TO THE STUDENTS THIS FRIDAY.  I JUST WNATED TO GIVE YOU A "HEADS UP."
100th Day of School Project:
Students need to make something (anything) to depict the number 100.  This can be as simple or complex as you want and as creative and open-ended as you wish.  Here are some ideas based on what students have done in years past:
·         Collect 100 of the same item and glue them to a poster board
·         Collect 100 different items and glue them to a poster board
·         Make a book with 100 drawings or glued items
·         Make a t-shirt with 100 buttons, bows, ribbons, etc.
·         Cut out your handprint 100 times and create a picture, mural, etc.
·         String 100 noodles, beans, beads, etc. onto a necklace
·         Make a video of 100 consecutive movements (jumping rope, using a pogo stick, doing jumping jacks, etc.)

Feel free to use one of the ideas above or come up with a new way of portraying the number 100 with your child.  MOST IMPORTANTLY, THIS IS A PROJECT THAT YOUR CHILD NEEDS TO CREATE!!!  BE CREATIVE AND HAVE FUN!!! J

PROJECTS ARE DUE TO SCHOOL BY MONDAY, FEBRUARY 11TH!
**If your child finishes sooner, please feel free to send it in early.**
**Feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns you may have!**
